The 1st International Grand Ceremony of Huang Fumi and Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing Academic Thinking Conference

1st notice

In 2010 UNESCO put Acupuncture-Moxibustion on their intangible cultural heritage list. Acupuncture-Moxibustion culture is a long standing and well established practice. Among the first major works that richly describes all meridians and discusses their essentials is Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing. The author, Huang Fumi, is the first Chinese acupuncturist with concrete records and is regarded as one of the founders in acupuncture-moxibustion history. He was also a famous doctor, litterateur, historian and philosopher of the Wei-Jin period in China. His famous work Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing founded the basic theory of acupuncture science and has for a long time been used as standard book in acupuncture teaching. This work has been brought to the Korean peninsula, Japan, South-East Asia and Europe. Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing has made an incredible contribution to acupuncture studies and the development of medicine all over the world. At Huang Fumi`s birthplace Lingtai County of Pingliang City, Gansu Province, China, a Huang Fumi cemetery and Huang Fumi culture park has been renovated in order to actively carry forward the superior traditional acupuncture culture and also push forward the acknowledgement of acupuncture science and academic creation. The result of this hard work is to create a cultural mecca of Huang Fumi`s acupuncture academic thinking.

In order to respect, commemorate, and remember the huge contribution of our forefather Huang Fumi for the development of acupuncture studies, and also to let the people of the world come to visit our holy forefather and develop and preserve the precious heritage of Huang Fumi`s acupuncture studies, we have been planning this conference for an extensive period of time.  As early as during the “2010 Dunhuang International Acupuncture-Moxibustion Manipulation Technology Demonstration & Academic Conference” we proposed the idea of holding a ceremony to honor our ancestor, which received a positive response from the participants from America, Canada, France, Austria, Norway, and also from the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwanese participants; more than 400 specialists and scholars. The China Association of Acupuncture and Moxibustion (CAAM) is the main presenter with the support of Gansu University of TCM, Acupuncture-Moxibustion Manipulative Techniques Branch of CAAM, Bian Stone & Scraping Committee of China Associate of CAAM, the People`s Government of Pingliang City and the People`s Government of Lingtai County are pleased to announce “The 1st International Grand Ceremony of Huang Fumi and Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing Academic Thinking Conference” will be held from August 6-8 2012 in Huang Fumi`s birthplace Lingtai County, Pingliang City, China.

The conference committee has invited both foreign and domestic acupuncture specialists and scholars, relevant leaders and others to Huang Fumi`s birthplace to hold a joint ceremony in acknowledgment of our ancestral master. This special conference is being held for several reasons, including but not limited to: commemorate his contribution to acupuncture-moxibustion, find the roots of acupuncture-moxibustion, take an oath to the core of acupuncture-moxibustion, honor the essence of Chinese acupuncture-moxibustion, and make common the splendor of Chinese acupuncture-moxibustion, refuse the wilting and degrading of Chinese acupuncture-moxibustion, cast the spirit of Chinese acupuncture-moxibustion, initiate the spread of Chinese acupuncture-moxibustion, and to make an even bigger contribution to people`s health worldwide and together protect, pass on and study Huang Fumi`s acupuncture science and cultural heritage. We therefore welcome both domestic and foreign acupuncture specialists and friends from all around the world to come and join us in the ceremony honoring our ancestral master, increase communication and cooperation in order to promote and push forward the great traditional acupuncture-moxibustion medical culture.
